Canadians value democracy both at home and around the world. As we watch how fragile democracy is and how easily it can disappear, Canadians are speaking up for it loudly and clearly. There is no place in a democracy for the elimination of majority rule in government. This is why the Ontario Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act (2022) must be repealed.
2026 Municipal Candidate Pledge
The 2026 Municipal Election is the time for municipal elected officials and candidates to send a strong message to the Ontario government to rescind these undemocratic powers.
This voluntary pledge may be signed by municipal candidates in the 2026 Ontario Municipal Election as a public commitment to accountable local government, transparency, and the protection of democracy in Ontario.
